Spectra 311 Narrow-Band

UVB Phototherapy Cabinets

From Daavlin

With Less Danger of Burns, Overdosing

Or Other Harmful Side Effects

Precise UVB Exposure Regulation

• Built-in Treatment Protocols

• No Risk of Drug Side Effects

Spectra 311 Series phototherapy cabinets solve the problems of over-exposure to ultraviolet light by maximizing delivery of narrow-band UVB radiation (in the 311-312 nm range, the most beneficial component of natural sunlight) while minimizing exposure to superfluous

This allows patients to receive extended phototherapy treatments with less risk of severe burning or pathogenic exposure to light in harmful ranges.  (It also avoids the adverse side effects of the psoralens used in conventional PUVA therapy, since UVB treatment requires no supplemental drugs.)

• Based on the concept of integrating dosimetry control system provides constant power monitoring while administering therapy according to built-in protocols you can select or modify as you choose, to meet the specific needs of each individual patient.

• The unique “talking” system stores treatment records for up to 300 patients, automatically recalling the protocol last used for each patient, and sounding the time limits audibly to avoid treatment mistakes or overdosing.  It lets you take advantage of the therapeutic benefits and increased margin of safety inherent in narrow-band UVB with complete confidence.

The Daavlin Company has been a phototherapy leader, providing effective treatment solutions for skin disease sufferers around the world, since 1981.  We manufacture treatment equipment for use in physicians’ offices, clinics, hospitals and at home, incorporating the most advanced technology and safety features.

Spectra 311 Narrow-Band UVB

Why Narrow-Band UVB Is Different...

• Conventional broad-band UVB lamps emit a variety of wavelengths ranging from 280-330 nm.

• Narrow-Band UVB virtually eliminates superfluous and harmful UV by emitting only wavelengths of 311-312 nm.

• Clinical studies show the peak therapeutic effectiveness of UVB light to be within the range of 295-313 nm, but wavelengths below 300 nm can cause erythema or severe burning and increase the risk of skin cancer.

Benefits of Narrow-Band Phototherapy

• Eliminating UV in wavelengths below 311 nm permits higher light intensities and longer exposure times, so patients can derive the maximum benefit from phototherapy.

• This increased effectiveness permits more aggressive treatment regimens, resulting in a shorter course of treatment.

• Extensive research* confirms that patients not only avoid the danger of serious burning from sub-erythermal exposure, they may also enjoy longer remission periods after treatment.

• Remission periods are similar to those with PUVA therapy and markedly  superior to broad-band UVB treatment (studies show 38-40 percent of narrow-band treated patients require no additional therapy for at least 12 months).

Precision Dosage Control System

Spectra 311 Series units achieve precise narrow-band UVB exposure with Daavlin’s unique UV2001 dosage control system, the most sophisticated close-tolerance exposure regulation device available in phototherapy today.

Philips, A.G., manufacturer of the ultraviolet lamps used in  the Spectra 311 series of phototherapy cabinets, has amassed an exhaustive library of studies from around the world documenting the therapeutic effectiveness and safety benefits of narrow-band UVB treatment.  This information is available on request from The Daavlin Company.
